Bonding with Great Artists: Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale
Have you heard of Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale? There are so many great artists that have been forgotten to history. And Eleanor is such a powerful and poignant visual storyteller that I can't believe I'd never gotten to know her work until this past year. And now, I'd like to share with you some of her wonderful art and to discuss what made her soul so distinctive.
In this one-off class, we will first immerse ourselves in the world Eleanor's art and personally connect to the stories they depict. Then, we will look at the artist's own life to see what was happening in it which led her to create the artworks. Just as we'll ask ourselves, "When have I had a moment like this?", so we'll ask, "Eleanor, when have you had a moment like this in your life?" We'll learn about important aspects of her life... through the art we've connected to our own lives. Our goal is to form a deep bond with Eleanor based on an empathetic understanding. My hope is that you'll come away from this course with a new friend... who happens to be a great artist.
